Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Paths ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Paths mobile application and website.

Information we collect

Account information — your email address and the profile details you choose to provide (name, photo, bio).
Location data — your approximate location while you use the app, used solely to detect when you cross paths with other users nearby. Location is processed to create encounter events; we do not sell your location data or share it with advertisers.
Messages and interactions — waves you send or receive and chat messages with your matches, stored securely so the service can function.
Purchase information — if you subscribe to Paths Premium, the purchase is processed by Apple or Google and managed through RevenueCat. We never see or store your payment card details.
Device and diagnostic data — anonymous crash reports and basic device information (via Sentry) to help us fix bugs. Personal data is not attached to crash reports.
Push notification tokens — so we can notify you about new waves, matches, and messages.

How we use your information

To operate the core feature of Paths: noticing when you cross paths with other users and enabling waves, matches, and conversations.
To send you notifications you have opted into.
To provide and manage Premium subscriptions.
To diagnose and fix technical problems.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Where your data is stored

Your data is stored with Supabase (our database and authentication provider). Subscription status is managed by RevenueCat. Crash diagnostics are processed by Sentry. Each provider processes data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments.

Sign-in providers

If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your basic account information (name and email) from that provider. We never receive your password.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile → Privacy & Security), which permanently removes your profile, encounters, waves, and messages. You can also request deletion by contacting us at the email below.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the EU GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.

Children

Paths is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app.
